The main filming for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 began with an introductory muhurat puja ceremony held in Mumbai on March 9, 2024, attended by the cast and crew of the film. Filming officially began when producer Bhushan Kumar gave actor Kartik Aaryan a clap for his muhurat shot. At the ceremony were co-producer Shiv Chanana, Rajesh Sharma, Triptii Dimri, and Vidya Balan. The movie “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Begins” was released by T-Series on March 11, 2024, and included a peek of the ceremony. Kartik Aaryan was filmed for the movie’s opening shot, a train scene, which was directed by DOP Manu Anand.
On the final day of the film’s reshoot, director Anees Bazmee suffered a fracture to his leg, which presented serious complications during production. He underwent minor surgery in order to fulfill his promise to the movie, defying the doctor’s advice to obtain a steel plate and take it easy for three months. Wheelchair-bound, he arrived at the filming location and went about his business to make sure the picture didn’t fall behind schedule for Diwali 2024. During the film’s production, Bhushan Kumar, Anees Bazmee, and Kartik Aaryan were among the major players who actively participated in talks and preparations.
In Mumbai, filming got underway, and the first schedule was completed on March 27, 2024. The Kartik Aaryan entering sequence was also filmed during this timetable. The largest song in Bollywood to date, a significant song and dance routine, marks Kartik Aaryan’s onscreen debut. For the song, which featured over a thousand background dancers with choreography by Ganesh Acharya, a sizable set was built in Mumbai’s Film City.
While recuperating from his injury, Bazmee looked for potential places in Kolkata for the upcoming schedule. On April 8, 2024, the cast and crew arrived in Kolkata to start the second schedule. In this schedule, Kartik, dressed as “Rooh Baba,” rode a bullet alongside Prantika Das and Arun Kushwah at the Victoria Memorial, as well as over the Howrah Bridge. After that, the filming moved to the flower market in Mallick Ghat, where a little set complete with skeletons was erected. After that, Bazmee investigated other spots, shot sequences at the Nonapukur Tram Depot and Park Street Graveyard, and wrapped up the production at Laha Bari in Central Kolkata. Key shots had previously been shot in a lavish Bengali village set that the production team had constructed in Mumbai.
The team wrapped shooting the week-long schedule on May 13, 2024, having finished filming on the same Bengali set in Mumbai. The scene included Kartik Aaryan, Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, and Ashwini Kaleskar. On May 21, 2024, a noteworthy dance scene with leading characters was also recorded. On May 29, 2024, a crucial scene was shot on the Mumbai set of the movie starring Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit, who complemented each other beautifully in black sarees. Other actors in the scene included Manish Wadhwa, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Raaz, Rose Sardana, and others.
Kartik’s scenes were pre-shot by Bazmee in May 2024, and the crew proceeded with filming without him for a few days in early June. The crew took a break from filming in early June 2024 so that Aaryan could concentrate on his promotional duties for his movie Chandu Champion, which was released on June 14 of that same year. The following schedule began in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, on July 1, 2024. with Rajpal Yadav, Vidya Balan, Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit, Kartik Aaryan, and others. Important sequences were recorded in a number of historical sites, including Jahangir Mahal, Orchha Fort, Ram Raja Mandir, and Madhuri’s tragic scenes with Kartik and Rajpal.where Triptii Dimri and Aaryan filmed some love scenes and a beautiful song. Filming tense scenes in Kanchana Ghat on the Betwa River was part of the itinerary.
Kartik and the other protagonists filmed a portion of the climax sequence there, which included important moments with all the main actors together and some pivotal action scenes. The team traveled back to Mumbai to film the remaining portions of the climax sequence with the full cast after filming a section of it in Orchha. Final scenes for the principle photography were taken on July 31, 2024, and August 1, 2024. A romantic song with Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri was filmed in Leh, Ladakh, in September of 2024.
