**Summary of the Plot**
The narrative centers on Sura, a fish vendor in a seaside community played by Vijay. His life changes when he finds out that his father’s false imprisonment was caused by the plans of a local goon. Recognized for his courage and unwavering moral principles, Sura decides to combat injustice and corruption in his neighborhood. He displays his commitment and resolve as he fights the evil while juggling his connections with friends and family.
Typical masala cinema components, such as combat scenes, humorous interludes, and romantic subplots, are woven throughout the narrative. Although some characters feel underdeveloped, Sura’s journey is full of obstacles, and his interactions with the supporting cast give the story complexity.
**Character Development**
The best part about the movie is how Vijay plays Sura. His portrayal of the character is endearing, intense, and vulnerable all at once. It does a good job of showing Sura’s transformation from a common merchant to a hero battling for justice. The supporting cast, which includes Tamannaah as the love interest and other well-known performers like Sathyan and Prakash Raj, who have important parts in Sura’s journey, enhances Vijay’s performance.
Tamannaah gives a remarkable performance that infuses the movie with new life. Despite having a fairly traditional role, she has a clear chemistry with Vijay and adds to the story’s emotional overtones.
A grieving young woman named Poornima travels to Yaazh Nagar in the meantime in search of comfort following the untimely death of her cherished pet dog, Ramesh. Poornima, overcome with grief and searching for direction, is drawn to Sura’s generosity and seeks solace in his company. They develop a sincere bond and become madly in love as they spend more time together.
Enter Samuthira Raja, a minister with a dark purpose who is cunning and crooked. Samuthira Raja wants to take over Yaazh Nagar’s stunning beachfront land and turn it into a massive fairground, taking advantage of the naivety and simplicity of the locals for his own benefit. He uses every dirty trick in the book, threatening and intimidating the locals with his political influence.
But Sura won’t allow herself to be intimidated into giving in. He takes on the role of the voice of resistance, motivating the villagers to retaliate against Samuthira Raja’s evil plans. In a gripping sequence of events, Sura defeats Samuthira Raja’s allies on his own, displaying his unmatched bravery, cunning, and knowledge. Sura outwits the dishonest minister and preserves their homes and means of subsistence with the help of the villagers.
Samuthira Raja, however, does not give up easy. Driven by his need for retribution, he creates a cunning scheme to permanently destroy Sura. He sets off a lethal bomb at Yaazh Nagar with the intention of destroying Sura along with the entire hamlet. Samuthira Raja captures Sura in a thrilling battle while bragging about his approaching triumph.
But Samuthira Raja is left astonished when Sura discloses the shocking truth: Samuthira Raja’s wife, a sweet and caring person who is ignorant of her husband’s terrible activities, would be the primary guest at the hamlet’s approaching inauguration. Samuthira Raja is shaken by this news, which makes him doubt his deeds and morality.
Samuthira Raja finds himself in a difficult situation where his desire for vengeance is balanced against the chance of redemption due to his wife’s innocence. With time running out, Sura begs Samuthira Raja to choose forgiveness and compassion in order to break the cycle of corruption and violence.

The shooting of the film commenced in Kerala in November 2009[24] and was continued in different places in Tamil Nadu like Marakkanam, Villupuram, Mamallapuram, Chennai, Alleppey and Pondicherry.[25] The shoot continued on 21 October and canned a few stunt sequences on the Uppaneri Bridge near Marakkanam Salt Lake. Vijay fought with villain Dev’s gang for almost three days. After a three-day gap, the shoot resumed in Prasad Studios and the song “Thanjavur Jillakari” was shot at AVM Productions on 27 October.[26][27] The unit created a slum set at East Coast Road.[28] A song was shot at Ooty.[29] During the shooting, cameraman M. S. Prabhu and Rajakumar had a misunderstanding and he was replaced by N. K. Ekhambharam.[30] Ekambaram reveals that one of the fight sequences, which were shot in the high seas in Tuticorin at 2 am, was choreographed by Kanal Kannan and has stuntmen from Bangkok. Ekambaram says that he has used high speed cameras considering the risks involved in shooting in the seas. The opening song has been pictured in a scenic location in Dhanushkodi
